Look out for our first year recipients in June!
Jovani is from local Merced, graduate of El Capitan High School, and is the oldest of four siblings. He is the first to enter college/university and intends to pursue a degree in criminal justice from CSU Stanislaus.
Jovani's insipration to enter law enforcement comes from his sense to help others around him and constantly be a light of positivity for them. His end game is to become a criminal investigator or detective.
Jovani credits his close friend Mya Lopez for introducing him to the Merced Department Police Explorer Post, which is a program that brings in children, teens, and young adults who want to learn more about law enforcement. They conduct community service things such as clean ups, directing traffic, and so much more. They also partake in trainings like pulling people over, handling handcuffs and visits to the gun range. We wish Jovani the best in his future and look forward to hearing about his journey!
